Museum Hof van Busleyden - 30 April to 26 July 2015

This exhibition took visitors back to the period between 1815 and 1830, when Belgium and the Netherlands were a single state under King William I. By means of old drawings and paintings we brought the old city centre, rich in architectural gems and authentic craft houses, back to life. Visitors learned about the Catholic past and were introduced to the latest trend of that time: Protestantism. Anecdotes hidden in newspaper articles, cartoons, diaries and chronicles illustrated the grand history of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands in the small city of Mechelen.
